Boscovich#
Summary#
Nietzsche praises the Polish physicist Boscovich alongside Copernicus as one of the greatest and most successful opponents of ocular evidence. While Copernicus persuaded humanity that the earth does not stand fast, Boscovich taught us to abjure belief in the last thing that “stood fast”—substance, matter, the particle-atom. His refutation of materialistic atomism represents the greatest triumph over the senses yet achieved on earth.
