Summary#
Descartes is presented as the father of rationalism and the grandfather of the Revolution, marking the beginning of modern philosophy’s assault on the traditional conception of the soul. While he recognized only the authority of reason, Nietzsche dismisses him as superficial, noting that reason itself is merely a tool.
