Summary#
Nietzsche contrasts the philosophers of the future with dogmatists, whose defining characteristic is the secret wish that their truth should be truth for everyone. The coming philosophers will reject this impulse out of both pride and taste, affirming instead that their opinions are their own and that another person has no easy right to them. Dogmatism thus represents the bad taste of wishing to agree with many people and the misguided pursuit of a “common good.”
