A master by nature is one who takes what he values and guards it, who conducts cases, carries out resolutions, remains true to opinions, and to whom the weak and suffering naturally submit. When such a man feels sympathy, it carries genuine value, unlike the sympathy preached by those who merely suffer or cultivate suffering as a form of superiority.
