Obedience#
Summary#
Obedience is presented as the essential condition for all human achievement and greatness. Nietzsche argues that long obedience in the same direction produces everything worthwhile in life: virtue, art, music, reason, and spirituality. This constraint and discipline, though appearing tyrannical, is what nature itself demands, teaching that “Thou must obey someone, and for a long time; otherwise thou wilt come to grief.”
