Self-subjugation refers to the voluntary privation and self-negation practiced by the saint, which the mightiest men recognize as a manifestation of superior force and strength of will. Rather than weakness, this extreme self-mastery represents a form of the Will to Power turned inward, compelling even the powerful to halt in reverence before an unconquered, enigmatic force.
