Truth#

Summary#

In the Meditations, truth is presented as a virtue produced by the soul’s most valuable part, connected to fidelity and modesty, and perceived when the soul maintains its spherical form illuminated by inner light. Nietzsche in Beyond Good and Evil challenges this classical view, questioning whether truth is inherently more valuable than illusion and suggesting that our preference for certainty may merely serve physiological demands for survival. He further argues that truth can be dangerous and that the strength of a mind might be measured by how much truth it can endure unattenuated.
